Here today, probably gone next week

I gave Advisor the summary of the Week of Fodderousness. Advisor said he was fine to fire the guy if that's what I wanted.

I said that I wanted to give BF one week. In the coming week, he will have to do the type of experiment I showed him this week, all by himself. There will be calculations, even. (Advisor: "Push him.") If he can't pull his act together, he is a goner.

In brighter news, today Dr Hyde and I early-voted at the county registrar. I expected it to be all momentous and teary, but in the event we were running late to a doctor's appointment and so it was mostly impatient. Oh reality, you letdown.

I counted the people I could see on line with us. 10 of the 40 were African-American (although of course people may self-identify differently than I estimated). For you nascent BFs out there, that's 25%.

According to the US Census, our county is less than 6% African-American.

So that was pretty cool.

And made me resent the hour-long line much less.

We leave Sunday for a swing state GOTV effort. Hope you all are also doing your best, wherever you are, to encourage voter participation. The entire meaning of a democracy is that we vote. Even if your state is "safe" either way, your vote--your participation--your voice--your improved popular vote count for Obama--matters (plus there's all that down-ballot stuff!)

I doubt I'll be blogging between now and the The Great Hangover Either Way Wednesday, so I leave you with: V O T E. How will you ever explain it to your kids if you decide to sit this one out because you have two Westerns to run on Tuesday? Yeah, that'll matter in twenty years.

Oh, and for my foreign readers, sorry about the last 8 years. We're going to try to make up for it on Tuesday.

You rock!

We'll see how the Western line works on my PI if there's a line and I get in late...

If you get in late because you had to wait in line to vote, and your PI says anything other than "Hey, good job waiting it out there to vote today", you're working for the wrong person.

I drove by the voting line the other day - I got all teary seeing the little kids holding Obama signs.

Yes we can.

Nice. I will vote. And I feel better about not volunteering knowing you're out there!
