I don't know enough about the auto bailout to know if it was a critical stop-gap or a giant money squander, but either way this is hysterical.

you might feel different if you lived in a town where the entire economy depended on the auto industry - domestic AND foreign . . . my husband works for a supplier and is facing a possible layoff in a couple of months. I know you were just trying to be funny - but I don't need to be reminded of this when I go to get my daily "science blog fix"
