I'm a postdoc in the biological sciences. I can't decide if I work too much or not enough. I'm married to Dr. Hyde, a fabulous scientist himself, and we've finally had a child after a long time trying. The title and pseudonym? One name at work, another at home.

Ha!
Specific Aim #1: Stop inserting the words 'suction' and 'areola' into the methods section of the grant.
Specific Aim #2: Tell baby about the purpose of the grant and get him to contribute some of his own original research ideas. It's about time he start pulling his own weight!
Ditto for reading medical school lecture transcripts. Especially when the person gets big enough to grap the papers out of your hands every 5 minutes.
..who would have thought ;)
thanks! I really needed a laugh this Friday! Hope all family is doing fine and that little JekyllHyde is finding his place in the world being happy.
Hey, maybe the mini-you can multi-task, sucking and typing. But the typing, not the sucking, goes for the grant, although typing the boobs sounds fun. jc
Good to hear from you again.
Yes, I had friends that would type into facebook, "I'm typing with only one hand". Personally I found it nearly impossible to multi task while BFding, with the exception that I could listen to podcasts. All of the major journals have summary podcasts now. I was also too sleep-deprived to concentrate on anything well.
Best to you and little in your not-so-little adventure. Cuddle with him now, before he pushes away from you because he wants to play and tear the place to shreds! :)
Believe me, it will get easier with time.
I find that to be the case as well.
Oh...you were talking about a baby. ;-)
Hahaha! So true. But it's possible.
I once had a lengthy meeting with my advisor while breastfeeding. Awk!
It's different as they get older. But, the podcast idea is lovely. I was able to do nothing but watch tv, though eventually I figured out how to hold a book while nursing. And, when pumping, I managed to balance the bottles on my desk and use my computer.
Lucky you'se with podcasts. They were before my time.
(and, Dr. Jekyl -- hope the nursing is going well)
